#CyHoopsInv2024 Awards

CyHoops Invitational Awards 2024

The 15th annual CyHoops Invitational was satisfying, with competitive games on deck. In the championship game, we saw a potential UIL 5A D2 State Championship matchup between Fort Bend Marshall and Mansfield Summit, who are state-ranked #1 and #2 by TABC.

The only awards given out are the MVP (Most Valuable Player), MOP (Most Outstanding Performance), and Team Awards. Here, we will list the winners of each award, and I will also include who I felt were my All-Tournament Selections, broken into two teams.

Tourney Champs: Fort Bend Marshall

2nd Place: Mansfield Summit

3rd Place: Cypress Creek

4th Place: C.E. King

5th Place: Waxahachie

Consolation Champions: Cypress Springs

MVP: Kevin Sargeant 6’5” Sr. Power Forward (Fort Bend Marshall). He was a walking double-double the entire event. The only game that he didn’t record a double-double was in the Championship Game, but he still played well helping his team to bring home the title.

MOP: Theo Brannan 5’10” Jr. Point Guard (Mansfield Summit). He was very poised on the court never got rattled and just made winning basketball plays. His on-court performance plus his academic success in the classroom is why he got this award.

This is the Ball So Hard list of first (5) and second-team (10) honorees:
