#DOTC Low Major Takeaways

This past weekend we held our inaugural event “Dunkin’ On The Coast” | #DOTC. The event was a huge success and a big thanks to the teams who competed. The champions of the Low Major division were the Houston Defenders Black 14U. We appreciate all of the great feedback that we received from the coaches and parents. This event would not have been a success without you all so thank you.

14U Team Claims Ticket!

The Houston Defenders Black 14U were able to punch their ticket to the Shot Clock Invitational. They will be the only 14U squad that will be playing. A big shout-out goes to the program director and coach Larry Sowells. He said we just needed the bump and didn’t care what grade it was against. I like the makeup of the teams that he has and hopefully he able to keep that group together. They averaged 62 points per game while holding their opponent to 48.6 points per game average, which gave them a +13.4 margin. Two of those games were very close though a one-point victory over TMA 2027 NY2LA and a three-point win in the Championship Game over Team Trae Young Texas. Excited to see where these kids will be attending high school next season. Hopefully, we get a couple at the Prospect EXPO in September.

Here is a list of prospects who stood out in the Low Major Division of the event. This list is not in any particular order.

Low Major Standouts:

Markel Morrow [Defenders Black 14U]

I like this kid's tenacity on the basketball court. He doesn’t do a lot of complaining he just goes out and gets after it. Pushes the pace well. Even showed his ability to play in the halfcourt set as well. He averaged 12.3 points per game this weekend.

Alvin Washington [Defenders Black 14U]

Washington was big-time on both games on Saturday. This kid loves to play above the rim every chance that he gets. Athletic and wiry player who can also knock down perimeter shots. He has a really good feel for the game. He averaged 13.0 points per game this weekend.

Teron Watts [Defenders Black 14U]

This player got the goods. He has that smoothness to his game like his older brother. Controls the rock well. He can get by any opponent with his craftiness as a ball handler. He finished well around the rim through contact. He averaged 10.7 points per game

Andre Rubin [Raptors Coleman 14U]

This player is a competitor. Despite playing up all weekend he never backed down from any opponent. He led his team in scoring with a 10.7 points per game average on the weekend.

Evan Davies [Temple Select 15U]

6’3” | Clear Lake | 2027

Evan was strapped up this weekend. He was draining trey ball after trey ball. He also was active on the glass for Temple. He averaged 13.7 points per game this weekend. He looked really good as he played the trial spot on the offensive side for the majority of the games.

Daniel Clark [TTY TX 15U]

6’0” | Summer Creek | 2027

Clark displayed his ability to get in the paint at will this weekend. He set the tone with a 25-point outing in game one. He also drained some big-time three-pointers throughout the weekend displaying his range. He averaged 17.7 points per game.

Grant Maher [TTY TX 15U]

6’3” | Kingwood | 2027

Grant has a good feel for the game of basketball. He doesn’t try to do too much when on the court. He was everywhere on the floor, a bit of a Swiss army knife-type productivity for his squad. He seemed to get better and better each game. He finished off the weekend by averaging 13.0 points per game.

Cash Davis [TMA 2027 NY2LA]

6’1” | Foster | 2027

His first name says it all “CASH.” I swear that was the sound the net made every time he shot the ball. He was a big-time bucket for the TMA NY2LA squad in every game. He had another big eye-opening performance in his very first game as he scored 23 points. He would go on to average 17.7 points per game on the weekend.

Shawn Payne III [TMA 2027 NY2LA]

6’4” | Paetow | 2027

Shawn was always in the right places at the right times. He played with great energy on the floor and finished well in the paint. When his number was called he never disappointed his coach and delivered. He finished the weekend with a 10.7 points per game average.
