Hitchcock Storms the Alamodome
Reviews With Rob | Hitchcock vs Hooks
The moment we’ve all been waiting for, Ladies and Gentlemen. The culmination of a long season. The Super Bowl of high school basketball. The UIL State Boys Basketball Championships. The boys 3A semifinals 29-7 Hitchcock took on 32-5 Hooks high school. Hitchcock started the game on a 15-1 run. You could tell by the way they played that they had seen the bright lights of the Alamodome before. ℅ 2025 W Elijah Sherwood came out rolling with a quick 9 points and 5 rebounds (4 offensive) on 50% shooting in the first quarter alone. ℅ 2025 W Lloyd Jones, III also played phenomenally in the first quarter, with 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 75% shooting from the field. We saw Hitchcock take a 17-6 first-quarter lead. In the second quarter, it was more of the same, as Hitchcock continued to dominate the boards and anything inside of the three-point line. Hooks high school coach Michael Jackson looked to ℅ 2024 G Keyshawn Walls to mount some sort of offensive momentum. He did get 4 points and 3 rebounds in this quarter, but Hitchcock would still be up at the half, 33-13.
In the second half, Hitchcock continued to keep their foot on the gas. ℅ 2024 G Damien McDaniel began to assert himself off of the bounce when the defense started to collapse on the Bulldog's inside presence. ℅ 2024 G Jatavious Johnson tried his best to keep Hooks in it, but the lead was pretty much insurmountable. He did finish the game as the Hornet’s leading scorer with 10 points. In the end, Hitchcock’s experience seemed a little too much for Hooks to overcome as they finished the game with a resounding 69-36 victory. This catapulted them to a championship matchup against Childress high school on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Alamodome.
