Reviews with Rob | Klein Cain vs Tomball Memorial

Reviews with Rob would find itself on the beautiful campus of Klein Cain high school as the 13-9 overall (4-1 in district) Klein Cain Hurricanes took on the 22-3 overall (3-2 in district) Tomball Memorial Wildcats. Tomball Memorial came out early with a very physical style of play. They made it hard for the Hurricanes to muster up much offensively. Klein Cain couldn’t get many shots at the basket because Tomball Memorial was forcing so many turnovers. ℅ 2024 G Myles Dealy was a needed energy boost for Coach Bailey and his wildcats. Dealy scored 10 points and had 3 steals, along with a number of heady plays. I was pleasantly surprised by the defense of unsigned senior P Reed Odell (also a standout quarterback). He controlled the inside and played great interior defense on Klein Cain’s uberly talented ℅ 2025 P John Clark. Unsigned senior G Braden Fobbs was a bright spot for Coach Cook in the first half with 9 points, but after two quarters, the Wildcats would lead the Hurricanes 29-18.

Klein Cain came out with nothing to lose in the third quarter. They fought and clawed their way back into the game. Unsigned senior G Delmontrey Williams was a huge part of that. He would come off of the bench scoring 10 points and bringing the game to a 33-33 tie in the middle of the third. John Clark also came out with more energy and, even though he wasn’t scoring a lot, his presence drew a lot of defensive attention. Unsigned senior G JT Kirbie also turned his play up, contributing 6 points and 2 assists. After a timeout, Coach Bailey changed up his game plan and inserted unsigned senior W Peyton Kirkland into the lineup. He would go 5-6 from the field in the second half to the tune of 13 points. ℅ 2024 W Luke Reder would also contribute immensely in the second half. A 15-0 run that stretched from the middle of the third until halfway through the fourth would pretty much put the game out of reach for the Hurricanes. Tomball Memorial would prevail with an excellent 71-59 victory over a very game Klein Cain team.

Klein Cain was led by: Brandon Fobbs with 18 points, 2 rebounds; JT Kirbie with 11 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds; John Clark with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks; Delmontrey Williams with 10 points, 2 rebounds

Tomball Memorial was led by: Peyton Kirkland with 18 points, 3 rebounds; Myles Dealy with 16 points, 8 assists, 4 steals; Luke Reder with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals; Reed Odell with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 blocks, 2 steals
