Reviews with Rob | Seven Lakes vs Katy Paetow

Both teams came into this game with unblemished district records. One team (Seven Lakes) everybody expected to be; the other team (Paetow) was somewhat of a surprise. The game started out kind of slow for both sides. The scoring would start off with Louisiana Tech commit, AJ Bates, converting multiple straight line drives to the basket that ended with high degree of difficulty finishes. Not to be outdone, unsigned senior Ade Onaleye would hit some tough midrange shots that would keep Paetow neck and neck with the Spartans. The battle between ℅ 2025 W Isaiah Bates (Paetow) and ℅ 2027 W Isaiah Santos (Seven Lakes) was great to witness. They didn’t back down from each other or give an inch. Santos would finish the first half with 6 points and 4 rebounds. Isaiah Bates would finish the first half with 7 points and 3 rebounds. This back and forth half would end with Seven Lakes on top by 10, 36-26.

The beginning of the second half saw Seven Lakes go to a press that gave the Panthers fits. After a quick 10-0 run, the Spartans looked to be in complete control. It seemed like every time Paetow looked to get back in the game, Santos would be right there to close the door. He was a monster on the boards, accumulating 4 offensive rebounds in the second half. His infectious energy also led to him garnering 17 points in the second half. Unsigned senior G Princeton Layton would get into the scoring act for the Panthers, hitting multiple buckets to try and bring them back. In the end, that 20 point lead that had accumulated over the third quarter proved to be insurmountable and, after a couple of baskets from ℅ 2026 G Nas Price, Seven Lakes would remain undefeated. The final score would be 79-62.

Seven Lakes was led by: Isaiah Santos with 23 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists; AJ Bates with 21 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals; Nas Price with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals
