This 2024 class in greater Houston has some talented prospects. We highlight one prospect from each deemed position. Point Guards:

Kayde Dotson 6’2” | Beaumont United (Beaumont, TX) - JL3 Elite [EYBL]

Kayde Dotson has a very proven track record. He has been a Robin on three straight state tournament teams in high school and also has been Batman for the highly touted EYBL squad JL3. Dotson has an abundance of ways to score the basketball at a high level. He’s also shown an ability to be coached hard and grasps multiple offenses. His ability to move his feet on defense is also a plus. I believe that, even though he is a scorer by nature, coaches will be pleasantly surprised by his ball handling and IQ. If you add all of those ingredients together, I feel like this will be a very successful summer for him. His best basketball is definitely in front of him. - Robert Carroll [Lead Scout]

Jared Harris 6’4” | Silsbee (Silsbee, TX) - LivOn [EYBL]

Jared is a very talented guard that is looking to bump up his stock this spring/summer as he rejoined the highly touted national circuit the Elite Youth Basketball League. This past high school season we got to see the maturity of Harris at the beginning of the season as the majority of his varsity basketball teammates were on the gridiron. He displayed leadership while playing with a bunch of JV players and made sure that they understood the plays and encouraged them through their mistakes in the game. Jared is a scorer by nature. He gets great elevation on his jumper and has a quick release that allows him to not only rise up over opponents but also get his shot off quickly. He has displayed the athleticism to play above the rim. He also has a good handle on the ball and can run an offense. As he continues to get stronger you will see him putting guys in the rim and absorbing contact. He is running with LivOn this for the grassroots season. Early look at Harris at the “Battle of the Brands” was very poised and comfortable with a lot of his game being played above the rim. It should be a fun summer for this prospect as he looks to make the national Top 100 list. - Geoffrey Day [Owner]

Wings:

Stoney Hadnot 6’6” | Cypress Spring (Cypress, TX) - Team Temple

After winning offensive player of the year in his district, and leading his team deep into the playoffs, Stoney has hit the summer circuit with a bang. He has shown an ability through countless hours of practice, not to just be an athlete, but a three level wing scorer. I have also seen him initiate offense in both the half court and full court settings. He’s always been a pretty good defender, but his agility and lateral movement seem to have stepped up a notch. Talk about a kid picking the right program, he will be looking to take the NY2LA circuit by storm. I think that everything that people have been doubting him about, he seems to be working on. He guards 1-3 and his competitive fire is starting to burn bright. He will definitely have to be a leader for one of the better independent teams in the city. Bigs:

Robert Miller 6’10” | Pasadena Memorial (Pasadena, TX) - TJ Ford Academy

Although Miller is already a nationally touted prospect he decided to take a different route from a heavily national stage. He will be running this grassroot season with TJ Ford Academy on the Adidas Gold Circuit now known as the 3SGB. The shot blocking machine will still attract the coaches no matter where he plays at. Robert has looked like a different machine early on this spring as he has been taking guys from the wing. His shooting percentage from deep continues to improve. He has great timing on shot blocking and is a force on the interior defensively. The Pasadena Memorial star was named MVP of his district this season and took the Mavericks to the playoffs. He is a Stretch-Four that can guard the 3-5 on the court as he has really good lateral movement for his size. He also has gotten stronger and isn’t being moved around easily on the court as he was at the beginning of the season.
