Triple-Header Notebook
I was on hand to catch a triple-header at Delmar Fieldhouse for some first-round (Bi-District) playoff action. This was a clash of UIL 6A Region III District 17 vs District 18 Matchups. CFISD vs HISD. First, let me say thank you for featuring a triple-header. It makes the playoffs so much more enjoyable being able to see more than just one game. Here are a few notes that I jotted down.
Cy-Fair Statement Win!
The Bobcats started the game down to Houston Heights and found themselves fighting to capture the lead after the first quarter and even to hold it going into halftime. The interior defensive presence (Nolan Aigberadion & Jaimon Norvil) was huge for the Bobcats. Cy-Fair started to fire on all cylinders in the second half and seemed to be lights out from the perimeter, as everyone was hitting shots. They came away with a statement victory over the Heights 31-point win 67-36 they now sit at (25-9) on the season.

The Cougars chased off the Texans!
Cypress Creek set the tone from the first quarter and continued it throughout the second quarter. Kebari Lewis started with it on his mind outsourcing the Texans by himself in the first quarter. The Cougars also won the battle on the boards on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Despite the efforts from Lamar Texans Kye Lee Smith in the second half, the Cougars would respond with big plays on both sides of the ball by Jayphon Duncan. The Cougars advanced to the next round with a 59-47 win making them (23-13) on the season.

Bellaire Second Half Stand!
Jersey Village's standout player was Gavin Davis who showed his ability to score the ball by creating his own shot from every level on the court. His play in the first half kept the Falcons in the game. In the second half, it was all Bellaire as Shelton Henderson turned up his defensive efforts and had a statement dunk where he switched hands in the air to throw it down and took the air out of the building. The big three (Kholman Dutton, Anthony Andrews, and Shelton Henderson) were just too much for the Falcons, as they turned a 27-24 halftime lead into a 65-42 win. The Cardinals now have a record of (28-6) on the season.
